Oh what a weekend! I was stuck being academic all weekend.I got a ton of research done on my paper, got my chapter read, tested over it, read two essays and answered the questions over those, and then got a fair deal of the paper started. I also got my honey do's done too today except getting the Christmas tree down out of the attic. I just ran out of time (to be read that I didn't want to) so it will come down one day this week.
I was out walking this morning (again) and it kind of occurred to me that I will likely be the star of my own show this Thursday. In our family, it is all about stuff yourself to the gills on Thanksgiving day and then go back for more that evening once it processes. Well I don't plan on getting nuts at all. In fact, I am only going to allow 500 extra calories and I don't KNOW that I will do that. But I promise, every one here will be watching me to see how I handle this. They may not say anything, but I promise, eyes will be cutting and seeing what my plate looks like when I start eating. I bet once I set the fork down, once more, eyes will come my way. I don't know what they expect to see, but I know what they will see. Me doing just fine thank ya.
I am not ready for Monday yet, but I am looking forward to getting the day off on Wednesday and hanging with my Lauren! I also look forward to my 5 mile days challenge!! I am dorky for it I know, but it still makes me happy to think of it.
I'm allowing myself a few extra calories for Turkey Day too but since I'm doing the cooking it will make things MUCH easier for me!! And honestly, it's more the "carb" part that will get me....potatoes are my weakness. But nothing tastes as good as skinny does! :-)
ReplyDeleteHow cool that you get to spend Wednesday with Lauren! Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteYou're going to stand up to all that scrutiny just fine, thank you very much!! ;-)
Hope you have a great Monday!!
500 extra calories is a lot of extra turkey. On the other hand, it's not a lot of extra pie. If you're going to indulge...go for more turkey! :-) I'm glad your weekend was so productive!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the insight Shane. I think reading this post may help me to do well on Turkey Day. I hadn't even thought about the fact that people WILL be watching us to see what we eat and how much is piled on our plates. After all the remarks that have been made to me about how much weight I've lost and how "good" I look, it all comes down to the fact that they still will be watching to see what I eat. They will either see an overflowing plate and think "well, she'll gain all her weight back in a few months", or they'll see me eat sensibly and think "wow, so that's how she's done it. good for her". I know what I WANT them to be thinking and that will guide me in my decisions. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMore turkey, more green beans and broccoli for me. Less sweet potatoes. No bread. Just a bit of cornbread dressing. No mac & cheese. No dessert. We can do it, Shane.
ReplyDeleteI am betting that you will do just fine. I am taking your lead with the extra 500 only calories. I plan on loads of salad, veggies, turkey (a couple of servings) a small piece of pumpkin pie and that is about it. No stuffing because I know I would not be able to stop.
