Ok guys, the holidays are killing me right now! I have had two Christmas parties so far and not that I have gone nuts or blew my diet incredibly, but it just feels like I am gaining weight! I am not doing well on my soda drinking either. I suspect if I do gain weight, that would be the most suspect aspect of my last weeks behavior. It is diet soda, but that is that much less water I am drinking too. So today's meeting was the last one that I know of to have a food event that requires me to caffeine up to keep going. Starting tomorrow, I am back to no soda, and the best part is, I get to start walking (or jogging!) more often! So I am going to be busting my booth hocks for the next 5 days to try to do damage control for this Friday's weigh in, if there is damage control needed. We will see on Friday I suppose.
I have a wild hair folks. I want to jog a 5k tomorrow morning! Desperately! I did jog a mile Friday morning and it really wasn't that much of a hardship, though it was only 4 miles an hour, but I will take it, it didn't hurt my ankles!
Shane, we don't need to make ourselves miserable during the holidays. You said you have not blown it. I believe you. I posted today with a similar feeling. But definitely lose the soda, diet or otherwise. Drink even more water to get the bad stuff out of your system. Sounds as if you have some fluid retention. Eat the things you want, but watch your portions, and no seconds. We can do this!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are just human, Shane. I know you will knock off many additional miles in walking/jogging in the next 31 days, so don;t be too hard on yourself. You are doing great!
ReplyDeleteI think you are doing great. I am limiting myself to diet soda on Friday and Saturday. Not because I need the caffeine, but I need some taste variation, and if I don't drink it all week it feels like a treat. Every day is too much ... even diet soda is a drag on my energy levels.
ReplyDeleteTis the season. It's not falling off your diet, it's living your new lifestyle. Special days come, we must modify. That's what the skinny folk do. Watch them! It's fascinating to watch how skinny people eat at these events.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the running!!!! Doesn't it feel empowering? Don't fuss about your speed...it takes time and it's a process. Keep going.
The holidays are always the hardest to navigate. I really do thing your doing well with them. You've realized that soda even diet soda is not a good thing so you've stopped having it!!
ReplyDeleteYou are doing great my friend :)
This is a tough time of the year for those of us trying to lose weight. Hang in the best you can with good food, and keep on walking! It's only for a short period of time, and if you can at least maintain, you'll be off to a running start after all the hoopla!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you,Shane-parties and for me a lot of baking. My sister was just telling me I could maintain and I said that I didn't want to maintain but LOSE weight! It's hard...and now I have to glaze a white chocolate cheesecake for a party tonight. Tomorrow I have all day meetings so hopefully won't be around good food!
